April Cause for the month

The April Cause for the Month changes yearly and is suggested by a church member and agreed by the Church Meeting. The member suggesting the cause is responsible for the publicity.

In 2021 the cause is:

Norfolk and Waveney Mind    Norfolk and Waveney Mind - Careers

Throughout the course of an average year in the UK, 1 in 4 people will suffer from some form of mental health disorder, ranging from anxiety and depression to OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and psychotic disorders (including schizophrenia). 1 in 5 people will be having suicidal thoughts and an average of 104 people take their own lives each week in the UK. During this past year, where people have not been able to get out and see loved ones, or even get exercise and sunlight, these figures will be worse.

For some, Norfolk and Waveney Mind has acted as a lifeline, whether that’s through low cost counselling, social groups where people can meet others going through similar things, gardening projects to get people out, or access to employment services.

Norfolk and Waveney Mind also offer training courses to individuals, to help them cope with their own mental health, for companies, so they will learn how to effectively support their employee’s mental health, and also training to be a mental health first aider.

Norfolk and Waveney Mind want to end the stigma around mental health and to stop the discrimination that comes with it.

Please help us to support them
