Messy Church

What is Messy Church?

It’s a way for all ages to engage in church.  It is “about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration”.

Each month we look at a different theme.  We use craft and games to explore the theme and learn about what it means for us today.  There is a short service, or celebration time where we sing a song and have a story, there is also a chance to respond to what we have been looking at during the session.  And of course there is food!

When is Messy Church?

Messy Church meets at 4:00pm – 6:00pm  once a month on a Saturday.See our facebook page Messy Church@Ipswich Road URC here for current details

What happens at Messy Church?

We start Messy church with an activity as people arrive.  Then we have a short worship time including a song and a story or introduction to the theme.  We then have a time for crafts and activities, some messy, some not so messy but all based around the month’s theme.  This is followed by a second worship time where we bring together everything we have discovered.  We  then finish with a lovely hot dinner and a chance to chat about all that we have done in the rest of the session.

Who is Messy Church for?

Messy church is for the whole family and children (up to about 12 years old) must be accompanied by an adult, that could be Mum, Dad, Granny, Grandpa, Aunties or Uncles friends or carers, its for the whole family to enjoy church together.
