Holiday Club 2026 – A Week of Bible Stories, Fun and Friendship
What a wonderful week we have had at our Holiday Club! Throughout the week, the children have explored five different Bible stories through interactive Bible times, crafts, games, music, worship and prayer.
Each morning began with time to arrive, settle in, and decorate biscuits ready for snack time. The children then took part in a Bible story and a related craft before enjoying plenty of opportunities for free choice and active play.
Monday – The Lost Sheep
We began our week with the parable of The Lost Sheep. Through our Bible time we thought about how the shepherd cared for every single sheep and went looking for the one that was lost, helping us to understand how much God cares for each one of us.
The children made their own cotton wool sheep with the words “Jesus knows me”, reminding us that Jesus knows each of us personally.
There was plenty of time for games and free choice, including football, board games, colouring, beads and outdoor play.
At snack time the children enjoyed fruit and the biscuits they had decorated earlier, while beginning to learn our memory verse for the week:
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” – Psalm 150:6

Tuesday – The Good Samaritan
On Tuesday we explored the story of The Good Samaritan and thought about what it means to show kindness and help others.
The children took part in an interactive Bible time using props including a priest’s hat, a Levite sash and a Samaritan bag. They then bandaged cardboard people cut-outs to, linking their craft to the injured man in the story.
The children enjoyed a busy morning of activities, including dodgeball in the Blake room, as well as board games, colouring, beads, racing track and outdoor play.
We continued learning our memory verse and made a piano-themed praise craft, before coming together for worship and prayer.

Wednesday – The Wise and Foolish Builder
Our Bible story on Wednesday was The Wise and Foolish Builder. We built one house on a strong foundation and another on a weaker foundation using Jenga blocks and sand. When the storm (a watering can of water!) came, the house built on the weaker foundation collapsed.
For our Bible craft, the children cut out and stuck together a house built on a rock. We thought about Jesus’ teaching about building our lives on a strong foundation and the importance of listening to and following His words.
There was lots of energetic play too, including a lively game of hockey in the sports hall.
For our praise instrument craft, the children made ukuleles, which they could use during our worship time.

Thursday – The Lamp Under a Basket
On Thursday we explored Jesus’ teaching about being a light and not hiding that light away.
The children made “Let your light shine” paper lanterns, giving us an opportunity to talk about how we can let God’s light shine through the way we live and treat other people.
We wrote on paper leaves ways in which we let our light shine and hung them on our light tree.
The children enjoyed table tennis in the sports hall as well as a wide range of free-choice activities.
We also continued our praise instrument collection by making drums. During worship, the children were able to use the instruments they had made as we sang together.
Friday – The Pearl
Our final day focused on Jesus’ parable of The Pearl of Great Price, when Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a merchant who finds a pearl of great value.
We began by watching a video showing how a pearl is formed and talked about how, just as every pearl is unique, each one of us is unique too. The children then thought about something that makes them special and unique before adding a layer of sticky paper to a ball. As everyone added their layers, the children worked together to create one big pearl.
We then thought about the merchant in Jesus’ parable who finds a pearl of great value and how the kingdom of heaven is something of priceless worth.
For our craft, the children made their own treasure boxes, and each child received a pearl to place inside their box as a reminder of the story and the precious value of God’s kingdom.
There was, of course, plenty of time for games and fun too, including football, as well as the many activities that the children have enjoyed throughout the week.
For our final praise instrument craft, the children made accordions, bringing together our week-long theme of “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
A Week Full of Fun
Alongside our Bible stories and crafts, the children have enjoyed a huge variety of activities throughout the week. There has been something for everyone, including football, hockey, badminton, table tennis, pool, Scalextric, huge Jenga, board games, playdough, colouring, beads and outdoor play.
We even got the beach tent out and enjoyed some adventurous outdoor fun, including polishing the slide and then having fun sliding down it!
The week has given the children opportunities to be creative, active, learn about the Bible, make new friendships and enjoy spending time together.
