Miracles of Jesus

Jesus Feeds the 5,000

This month, we explored the amazing story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 and discovered how Jesus can use even the smallest offering to bless many people.

To begin our session, the children split into two lively teams: the Rainbow Trout team and the Blue-Duck team, for a fun relay game. They raced to collect “fish and loaves” from a bucket, seeing how many they could gather together.

We then watched a Lego video that retold the story, before heading off to enjoy lots of hands-on crafts together.

The children enjoyed lots of crafts:

  • Peg fish with opening mouths
  • Puppet fish with bubble-wrap scales and moving tails
  • Grace dice
  • Crowd heads decorated with wool and googly eyes for our display board
  • Bread making
  • Placemats
  • Paper weaving of baskets

After the activities, we gathered together for worship. After dancing to the worship song Miracles, by Valley Creek Kids, we thought about how the little boy was willing to share his five loaves and two fish, and how Jesus used that small offering to feed thousands of people. Together we reflected on how God can use even the little things we have to help and bless others in big ways.

EATING TOGETHER

We enjoyed scrummy fish fingers and chips followed by delicious sprinkle cake.

A huge thank you to Bridget for very kindly cooking for us all, a heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who kindly helped, and, of course, to the wonderful children and families who came along.
