Producer stories from Fairtrade Foundation are included on the noticeboard, and in the church newsletter when there is space.Fairtrade products are widely available in nearby supermarkets, such the Coop, but we also continue to have a permanent stall in the corner of the coffee bar. Nearby there is an honesty box for your money.
Following the demise of Traidcraft, we have sourced new suppliers including Meaningful Chocolate Company, Transform Trade, We Are Fairtrade and Ethical Superstore.
The stall always has greetings cards for sale at £1 each. Some raise funds for John Aves Educational Project (JAEP), which is one of the charities we support on a monthly basis. Chocolate, biscuits, snack bars and socks are among the other items onoffer. Other items can be ordered.
Fairtrade offers producers:
- a unique Fairtrade social premium to benefit the wider community through clean water, education, transport and more
- environmental protection to care for God’s earth, farm sustainably and reduce the impacts of climate change
- health and safety and business training to give opportunities to people to reach their potential
By being a Fairtrade Church, we are putting our faith into action by using and promoting Fairtrade products and leading public conversation about justice for the farmers and workers we rely on.
